I’m Kelvin Tantono from Indonesia.

Although I was a practicing dentist 12 years ago, I realized after five years that my true passion lies in the world of dental laboratories, especially in metal-free fixed restoration materials like zirconia and lithium disilicate.
Having witnessed the challenges faced by my father’s analog lab, I quickly recognized the benefits of transitioning to digital technology.

Today, I am the founder and Chief Technician Officer of Zirmon Dental Atelier, and I work full-time as a ceramist. I find great satisfaction in my daily work, not only because I am passionate about the art of dental ceramics but also because digital technologies, such as milling machines, significantly ease my workflow and save time.

Could you tell us the advantages of dental CAD/CAM over the analogue system?

I have observed my father running his analog dental lab for over 30 years.

One of the major drawbacks of the analog system is its inability to reproduce the same design consistently. For example, if a casting fails during the production of PFM restorations, they must remake the wax from scratch. In contrast, with a digital CAD/CAM system, if one restoration fails either in the patient’s mouth or during production, we can simply retrieve the file and resume production immediately.

What do you think are the advantages of DGSHAPE’s products compared to other brands?

Since I started my lab with the DWX 5-axis, I haven’t tried other products. Two key factors that influenced my decision were that DGSHAPE is an Open System and that it offers high-quality standards.

I believe I made the right choice.
